Superintendent

Langdon Area School District Superintendent
Welcome to the superintendent web page. We are excited to be here and look forward to getting to know the community of Langdon.

I grew up on a farm in the Vang area where my parents Loren and Barb Christianson still live and farm.  I attended school and graduated from Walhalla Public School.  After high school I entered military service as a military policeman for a three-year hitch serving in Alabama, Virginia and Korea.  Completing my commitment to the Army I enrolled at Mayville State University and completed a double major in Elementary Education and Physical Education.  While attending Mayville I met and married my wonderful wife of 22+ years Sarah.  My first teaching experience was on the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation, first as a self-contained eighth grade teacher, then middle school science, math and health.  While working at the Ojibwa Indian School I started my pursuit of my Masters Degree in Education l
Leadership through NDSU. My second job experience was in the Rock Lake School District first as high school principal and PE teacher then as a superintendent/high school principal combo for the last four years. During our time at Rock Lake we added two new members to our family, Arik (14) and Mason 12.  From Rock Lake we move to Rogers ND, and I took on the challenge of pk-12 principal for 8 years.  The last three years I have been serving the Pingree-Buchanan Public School District as the superintendent and high school principal.

I think it is important that I plan to bring consistency to the school district with a concentrated effort to help the district and all of those associated with it reach their potential.  I feel it is our responsibility as educators to continue to improve and work at developing a work class education for our students. I believe that I bring the perspective of being both an administrator and parent to my position.

In my professional life I utilize two mantras to drive my decision making process.  What is the right thing to do? What is in the best interest of our students? As the tough decisions come across my desk I fall back on these questions and use them to filter my decisions and recommendations.

We look forward to immersing ourselves into the community.  I am a Legion member and plan to be involved with a variety of groups in the community.  Both of my boys are involved in school activities so we will be attending those along with supporting the Cardinal booster club in their activities.  I am willing to serve on a variety of local boards and committees as they come up and as my schedule will allow.

As a family we enjoy our time on the water fishing and water sports along with spending time at our campsite on Six Mile bay in Devils Lake.  With two boys into basketball I find myself busy getting them to a variety of camps and experiences.  The boys and I are deer hunters and we have a remote cabin by the Pembina Gorge.

We are purchasing a home in Langdon and have met a lot of friendly people.  We look forward to getting to know the rest of the people in the community and serving the community as we move forward.
